season pass question/ suggestion

I'm a new user, so this may be an old question... I notice when I set a season pass for ER on NBC, tivo is also recording all the old syndicated repeat ER's on Lifetime. I'm having to manually erase two ER episodes a day. Couldn't there be an option just to record the show when it comes on the channel you specify? Is there an option I'm missing? Isn't it common just to want to record the current season's episodes of a show you like enough for a season pass? Thanks.

I saw the same thing when I set up Star Trek: Voyager on a local station that carries both the new syndication and the repeated syndication. What increases this inconvenience was the fact that they show the new one twice a week and the old ones six times a week. Shheesh, talk about scheduling conflicts.
I found that I could manually set up a reapeating time for the one new show time each week. This works but I risk not catching any schedule shifts or specials. Though with ST:V there is little to no risk of that happening.

You would think so wouldn't you? http://www.avsforum.com/ubbtivo/smile.gif
I've experienced the same problems with South Park & Battlebots on Commedy Central who is notorious for playing an episode continuously all week long.
My solution thus far is to do a MANUAL recording that repeats on that day of the week, on that channel, for that amount of time. It's a low-tech answer but it works.
Let's hope the next evolution of TiVo can ask you if you want all episodes or just one recording of the new episodes.

Season Passes are ONLY for the channel you choose. I'm willing to bet that the additional/syndicated ER episodes are recorded as Suggestions. These will be at the bottom of your Now Showing with little Tivo icons to the left of them.

This will go away with 2.0 as Tivo won't record the same episode twice in a 28 day period (as long as the program info is correct)
