Running amset on a maxtor 160GB

I just upgraded my T60 with a maxtor 160GB drive (replaced the existing drive) and want to run AMSET to quiet it down.

Can I just boot from a floppy and run the utility? Or do I have to do something else?

AMSET may not work on that unit. Try Hitachi's Feature Tools instead.
