Who watched this? It was on last night. Since I was stuck in L.A. for an extra night, I got the chance to watch The hotel had Showtime.
It was a docu-drama (i.e. actors) revolving around President Bush and 9-11 (and the days after). I didn't watch all of it.. I just stumbled onto it jsut before it started, then went to bed when they had the scened with the PResident visitng with survivors families the day he visited New Your City and ground zero.
Pretty interesting.. The people who created the show apparently had good access to the Presdient and his staff to make the show.. To me, the Presdient came off strong and in charge. But they cetainly portayed many others in his staff/administration/military/etc. as being a bit skeptical at times.
Who else saw it? I'm sure Showtime will air it a few more times.

Was this the one with Timothy Bottoms playing the president? I saw his President Bush on Comedy Central's "That's My Bush!" and thought he would be excellent to do a serious portrayal of President Bush.

Don't recall the name of the actor who portrayed President Bush..

That's one way of putting it. The other way is that the thing was basically one long propaganda piece constructed by Bush administration officials.

Interesting. They were pretty good about re-creating some of the more memorable scenes from that morning.
First, the picture from 9/11/01:

Then, the picture from the movie:

They got Chief of Staff Andrew Card's suit color wrong, but other than that, it's pretty close.

I saw it and really thought it was good.
TLC had a documentary that aired on the 11th. It looks like it was produced by CBS news. A CBS news person narratted it. It was about the President during the week of 9/11. It had alot of interviews and video of the events happening around the President and White House. To me it was very simular to the Showtime program. Makes me believe that the Showtime program was accurate and not propaganda.

I saw both the movie and the documentary. I agree, they were remarkably similar.

I liked it too. They did a good job, and I think I'll even watch it again before I delete it. It's good to see our administration portrayed as people that just want to do what's right, for our own good, not a bunch of evil power-hungry bastards like some of the people in the Happy Hour would suggest.
Seeing the scene with Bush at Ground Zero with the bullhorn gives me shivers, whether it's the real thing or a recreation. Dude is SO getting re-elected.
For those looking for something similar, check out PBS's "Clearing The Skies" special. It shows how things happened that day, from a unique perspective. Good stuff.

I couldn't agree more with you. Anyone who has watched the original 60 Minutes interview that TLC expanded and re-aired, or read Bob Woodward's "Bush At War" realize that the movie was pretty darn accurate and certainly not propaganda. Unfortunately, there are some who always try to spin things in a negative way. I am sad for them.
