A heretofore unsuggested improvement to auto-correct

With the new auto-correct in 2.0 - the most annoying problem is being about 15sec before the end of a commercial, hitting FF twice, and then hitting play too soon and being back int he commercial. Perhaps the amount of autocorrect should start at 0 and rise to it's max value over after some number (between 5-10sec) after FF was pressed. Thus, if you hit FF-FF-PLAY quickly - you won't start out further back. It would take some experimenting to find the optimal 'slope' of increasing autocorrect. But I think the result would be more ergonomic.

At the very least, could the auto-correct be modified to never correct past the point where the FF (or REW) started? It's quite counter-intuitive to "fast-forward" briefly and end up at a point before the point you started at!

This is/was an ongoing subject a couple of weeks ago when 2.01 first came out.
You can change the autocorrection settings but it requires you to hack into the linux shell and make a few adjustments. You can read about in the TiVo Underground section in this thread

Unfortunately, those of us unwilling to void the warranty who have DirecTivo's are screwed, since we can't access those settings to fix it.
