TiVo Service - Phone number listings?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Ok, ok, I've looked everywhere - TiVo's web site, the FAQ, and I can't find it anywhere...

I'm going to buy a TiVo for my parents, but before I do, I want to make sure there's a local access number for the service (they live in a relatively small town). Where can I find this information, short of a real TiVo unit? (in case anyone wants to just check for me, the zip code is 61832).

Here's the place to check for TIVO's local telephone access numbers. They search by state names or area codes, not ZIP's, so you'll have to enter the appropriate data yourself.

Rats! UUnet doesn't show a local phone call POP for Danville, IL??? (Area code 217, zip 61832)

Oh, wait, am I still thinking ReplayTV? Doesn't TiVo still provide an 800 number if you don't have a local (non-toll) access number?

ahhh - me thinks I answered my own question, but, geez, the town's larger than a lot others on UUnet's list...

Most of the time a neighboring city is local. Your post seems to indicate you couldn't find a direct city match, so I can't tell if you already consider this.

TiVo didn't have a local number for me until sometime this year and I found out they finally did when doing a redo guided setup. So, if they don't for them, they can use the 800 number.

TiVo does currently offer an 800 number if there is no local dialup, but there have been rumblings from TiVo that they are considering discontinuing the 800 service, as it is very expensive for them.
