Next Summer I guess..Series 7 is only half way through finishing up the last 11 episodes in January.
They seem to be running it summer and after the holidays when the other networks are running re runs.

They announced a couple of weeks ago that new episodes (end of season 7) would resume in January.
No schedule yet, but here are some handy links:

O.K. I'm lost, I thought Stargate was cancelled on Sci-Fi. Because Richard Dean Anderson did'nt want to do it anymore.
Or did they bring it back?

News item I just saw on Gateworld said that Sci-Fi had ordered 20 episodes for Season 8.
RDA has wanted to spend more time with his family this year, but that's not the same as wanting off the show entirely.

That's what I get for trusting this site:

I just checked it 5 min. ago and they apparently have removed the Stargate has been cancelled tag.
This s*cks! I missed almost a full season.
I damn the people who can't keep their websites updated!

What, your season pass didn't record the first half of season 7? In any case they JUST started reshowing the season on Friday nights two weeks ago.

I feel your pain. But it's always better to have more than one source for information about a show. That way if one site doesn't have fresh news, you can double-check the status of things by looking on another one.
DVDs are up to Season 4, so it seems likely that Season 7 will be released eventually. And like zync says, you've only missed the repeats on the first two episodes of the season -- if you watch next Friday with #703, you can get caught up in time for January. It's a drag that you missed the first two episodes, but you don't have to miss the whole season.

They will probably end up repeating season one again given that January is still a few months away.

The trustworthy site is www.gateworld.net. They don't keep it up for all the shows represented but they do keep it up for Stargate.

Stargate was originally going to end after Season 6. But they renewed it pretty quickly since it gets the best ratings of any show on Sci-Fi. RDA has a reduced role this season if you pay attention. I almost never noticed it until I read on Gateworld what they do to reduce his time.
Again Season 7 was going to be the end with a feature file coming next summer and the spin off series starting up next year. Again, awesome ratings for Stargate so it's now renewed for Season 8. I think RDA will still be involved but not quite as much again. The feature film will actually be the two part season finale of season 7 and the spin-off series may still be a go at the same time as season 8.
An interesting Stargate fact: Once season 8 starts it will be the longest running Sci Fi show of all time tied with X-Files (also 8 seasons). All the Star Trek spin-offs went 7 seasons max, Babylon 5 went 5 seasons.

X-Files ran for nine years, although many might prefer to forget the last one or two...

The first half of the season has been a little inane, but (generally) not terrible like a couple of the ST series.
They were supposed to end at 6, leading into a Film and then Carter and Tealc going into a spinoff series (SG-Command?) and there was a SG-Antlantis seires thing going on - so 1st half of S7 was rushed a bit.
Also RDA has a reduced role and seems to show up for a scene or two, and whatever he can call in (stuck off world, visiting officials but checks in, etc).

More the opposite, really--they had it set up for the feature and new series after Season 6, but then the show was renewed another year, and they have to tread water now until the movie. Which is why nothing much is really happening...

[Nitpicking mode]
Babylon 5 was always intended to be a five-year series. JMS had to juggle storylines within seasons Four and Five due to not knowing if they would only go for four years, but other than that, he stuck to his original plan. Thus it's not right to imply that all the shows which ran longer than 5 years "beat" B5 for longevity. It was never a contest.

Not accusing you of implying anything, bonscott87, just wanted to clarify that for viewers who may not know much about B5.

Yep, very true. Bab 5 was planned to be 5 years from the start. If it wasn't for that I'm sure Bab 5 would still be going. It was that good. Although I tend to ignore the 5th season even happened (kinda like the X-Files fans for the last season of that show). Of course the stability of getting renewed screwed up season 5 as they thought it was cancelled with season 4 so JMS wrapped everything up and then last second the studio said, "oh hey by the way, you got another season to go". Ooops!
I thought X-Files went 8. I didnt' realize it actually went 9. Of course I stopped watching with season 6 so I didn't follow that closely. Guess Stargate's gotta go another year!
