Anyone else watch this show? I have to say it was really compelling! Just thinking about what I would have done if put in the situation. It must have really sucked to be put in that final round knowing with the 2nd place guy winning nothing.
On another note, Drew Carey was an excellent host and did a good job of trying to persuade the contestants to take the money. I hope they have another one of these contests next year!

Did a good job? He screwed up the around-the-world game by completely skipping over an opportunity for the girls to take control. The producers must have sighed relief when they ended up winning the game.

I watched it and it was more fun than I thought it would be.
How are they going to pay out the million? Lump sum, or dragged out over years? I know the Billion, if it had been won, would have been paid out over 40 years with a balloon payment at the end.
The winner was smart to be talking about setting up a foundation for the money. It would have been around for 40 years even if he wasn't.

I think I remember seeing them say in the fine print that the Million was a lump sum. Also pretty amazing that the guy who won had the winning number all along.
zync, I guess I didn't notice the problem with the flag game. I actually didn't care so much about the flag game anyways. The billion dollar game was the real deal, and it seemed that Drew did a good job of coaxing people to want to take the money.

Could someone please go over what happened in the first hour? I only saw the last hour when they started the "who's number is closest" round.
Where did that 6 digit number come from, did they all just pick some random rumber? was it a number on a bottle cap? Was there some quiz or contest at the beginning and it was some kind of score?
I must have been living under a rock for the past few months, because I don't remember hearing anything about this show, or seeing any contest on a pepsi bottle.
Thanks
Gene

Everyone in the audience picked their own 6-digit number. The computer verified that every 6-digit number was unique. Then at the beginning of the show the woman host went off camera in a secure room and rolled 6 different 10-sided dice to generate the 6 numbers in the billion-dollar number. They put a pool ball with each of the 6 numbers into a bag and then had an ape pull them out one at a time to determine the order of the billion-dollar number. They calculated the 10 audience members that came closest to matching the billion-dollar number, and those people became the contestants.

I thought that it would have been really cool that the remaining players get to see the worse numbers. Then they would have to figure out whether their number was any good based on the 5 or 6 rules they used to determine the "closest" numbers.
But I suppose that would have required thought, and may have been too much for poor Drew to handle.

I'm not sure I follow, didn't the girls answer the question, get it wrong, then the guys got a chance to answer, but got a part wrong? I don't think it goes back again to the girls since they already had a chance on that flag.

Well, the players know what number sequence they had so they can do it on their own...

I dunno - I recall that the guys go the flag then bombed the next question and Drew just rambled out the answers and moved on leaving the girls in a "WTF?!?" mode.
Of course I promptly deleted the show, so I don't have a record anymore.
As far as knowing the numbers, the contestants couldn't use the sole knowledge of their number to gain advantage since they were never informed of any of the other contestant's numbers.
In any case the psych-out method of elimination was pretty cool - almost worth the 30 minutes I actually spent watching the show :)
