Oobi?!?

Wife and I stumbled across Oobi this weekend when looking for shows for our daughter. What were the studio execs thinking when they approved this?!

"Ok, here's the pitch, it's like the Muppets, but without the puppets! Get this, we'll just use our hands and put on a set of eyes. Think of the production savings!"

Mods: move to the wasteland if you must, but I didn't want to really discuss the show itself, just the fact that TV people are whackos...

Oobi has been on Noggin for quite some time. It started as "filler" skits between shows. In April 2003, Noggin decided that they could stretch these skits into a half-hour show.

I agree that the concept is frightening. My two year old son, however, seems to like Oobi for whatever reason.

My son (18 Months) love it too.
Unfortuantely, they dont have enough episodes and the guide data bites so TiVo doesn't know it's a repeat.

My 4 year old thinks it's great in small doses, she is not impressed with the long show.

FYI: This is not a wasteland, it's an elite society.

49 views/3 replies. It's a wasteland....:D

What I don't get is that TV is over here, but any other form of art can be discussed in HH...books, movies, theater...

One wonders what that makes the Season Pass Alerts forum....

Hey, at least Oobie will be easy on our wallets - no need to buy toys of Oobie when you have your own Oobies with you all the time!

My son (2) likes the filler Oobie stuff too, not sure if he will enjoy a full 20 minutes of it though. I will have to TiVO one episode for him (no SP until it is a proven favorite since my TiVO is already half filled with kids shows).

We own a pair of "oobie" eyes. The kids always scream "OOBIE" when it comes on, but quickly change the channel. And I'm glad.

When TiVo can record books and theatrical movie releases, then there will be forums for those too. :p

This really is not wasteland thought if more people would come here it would be better. TV talk in HH would get totally lost, just like most movie and book talk does. It's really easy here to get a discussion going on any TV show, even oobi.
