Watch TiVo ANYWHERE in your home!

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I just happened across this cool little portable TV that, instead of having a built in tuner, actually comes with a 2.4GHz transmitter that can feed it a video signal from any A/V device withinu 300'. That means you could watch TiVo in the kitchen, the garage, the backyard, the bathroom :)... wherever. All for a mere $149.

I had $125 in Amazon gift certificates I got for my birthday so I ordered one up. If it's any good I'll let you guys know. :)

How would you actually control the TiVo, though? No IR transmitter there from what I can see.

I've got a few of those IR pyramids I can place strategically around the house. Although it would be nice if someone came out with a similar product that had a built in universal remote that repeated in the other room via the transmitter.

Just make sure that your Microwave is off all the time :)
Seriously, Microwaves and 2.4 GH cordless phones make terrible interference on just about any video transmitter I tried. I gave up finding one that works.

Since my TIVO, VCR, and DVD players are in my family room, I added RF modulators to my Family Room TIVO via the VCR on CH 125, DVD on CH121, and 2nd digital cable box on CH 123. IR Pyramids are located in the kitchen, and two bedrooms. The remote remotes operates as good and as fast as being in the family room where the TIVO is.

This above configuration seems to keep my family happy. They can control and watch the VCR, DVD, or 2nd digital cable box from the other rooms if I am watching TIVO in the family room. If I'm not watching TIVO, they can control and watch it in any room.

Wow, nice job on answering 6000 of those win a nickel trivia questions.

Actually you can only apply your "win a nickle" money to 10% of your order. I actually had a few bucks worth when I placed this order. :)

I think you mean 60,000.

Hmm, what was question 53,427, something maybe:

Why does Amazon do the Friday sales?
(Hint: We like baking too.)

1) To get one last chance to see those big hardware drills that are lying around the warehouses...
2) We have just way too many Matfer Exopats..
3) None, we just like to make you think we are really having a sale.

That's where $25 of my money came from too. I just happen to get the certificate in the mail a couple days before my birthday, so I counted it as birthday money. :)

Why not set up an intricate set of mirrors leading back to the TiVo.

No, I think it would be 6,000:

6000 * 5 cents = 300 dollars

I've achieved the same thing through an elaborate arrangement of mirrors placed strategically through the house......

And what device, pray tell, are you using to keep the FCC away? :)

John Ashcroft runs the Justice Department, not the FCC. The FCC doesn't care what you do with wiring inside your home.

I just thought I'd let everyone know he's been happily watching it in the bathroom and it works just fine :).

Like he would use it anywhere else...
