Angel on TNT

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

TNT will be showing Angel at 5pm weekdays, beginning 9/29. It looks like they are broadcasting the episodes in order, beginning with Season 1, Episode 1.

Thanks! I've been wanting to start Angel since Buffy died.

I'm glad Angel's starting up soon. Now that I'm getting into the ends of Buffy Season 4, apparently the Angel episodes become more and more important to watch.

Actually, the opposite is true. Season 4 of Buffy/Season 1 of Angel there were a notable number of crossovers, as Angel was getting started. However, after season 4 they made it clear - Angel was going to be it's own show, and would have a clear and distinct mythos that differed from that of Buffy. The events of Angel have relatively no impact on those of Buffy.

Thanks... Excellent news! Started watching in season 3, so now I can get some of the backstory...

True, but for where I'm at right now in Season 4 (The episode is "The Yoko Factor", I believe), there are quite a few important points from the crossover that I missed, so I'm just glad to be getting caught up.

Glad to hear that the shows become independent, though. I'd hate having to watch the two shows simulataneously after this just so I could keep up.

I haven't watched Angel since Season 2 and have really missed it. I just bought Season 1 on DVD and have Season 2 on order. I would like to start watching the new season, but I really don't know what is going on. I've had TiVo record some of last seasons episodes so that I might have a clue, but so far I just feel lost. How many seasons is TNT going to air?

I watched the first disc of Angel last week that I got off Netflix. If TNT is going to start showing them I'll TiVo and use the extra space in my rental que for other things!

Actually the show is getting a revamp this season. If you just watch the season finale from last season you should be able to catch up quite quickly. Just block the image of Connor out of your head like many of us have and you'll be all set.

Since Spike is joining the show, that "revamp" would also apply...

From my understanding, even watching the season finale from season 4 is unnecessary. In fact, without watching all of seasons 3 and 4 it may be more confusing than it is worth. From what I have read, it is supposed to be like a whole new show as of episode 1 of season 5. So, you should be able to just start watching from there (of course catching up on the history wouldn't hurt, but I would highly recommend watching seasons 1-4 in order if you are planning to go that route.

Well... I wouldn't exactly say it's a totally new show. I somehow doubt they'll go through the whole pilot episode stuff where they introduce the characters and the storyline. As such, you won't know who Wolfram and Hart are, what this green-skinned guy's deal is, etc, etc. It's not that hard to pick up by inference, but it won't be like watching another pilot episode.

True, it'll be a new setting and a whole new set of supporting characters, but the main characters and storylines will stay constant.

All I meant was that all of the SL's from last season were wrapped up. They didn't leave any loose ends. They're starting a new season with some new characters and a whole new setting. I think that you could catch up pretty quickly. It seems that the characters roles are going to change a bit anyway so I wouldn't worry about not being familiar with them.

I drove by a billboard this morning that stated my local UPN affiliate was going showing the syndicated version of Angel twice a week.

Kind of a neat little promo item that was sent out for season 5 can be seen here:

Uh, which time? :D

Posted by: LoadStar

Grr. Reading that promo letter implies that reviewers received advance copies of the first two episodes. I WANT!!! ;)

Grrrr. Conflicts with Around The Horn and Pardon The Interruption on ESPN at 5 and 5:30. What to do? What to do?

Sweet, now I can set a season pass for Angel on WB, and hold them until I catch up. I've never seen one episode of Angel, since I was waiting to start
from the beginning like i did with Buffy.

I saw that earlier this morning. I thought that was hysterical. I just want to get my hands on the advance copies now :)

I haven't watched it since Season Two and want to catch up, but I don't think there is enough time in the day for me to watch Seasons One and Two on DVD by the time they start airing Seasons 3 and 4 on TNT. All this before I can watch Season Five in October!! AAAAAAHHHHH!!!!
