My Thomson TiVo has 2 HDDs since manufacture. A 30gb one and a 15gb one.

The 30gb drive is at the end of the cable which according to Hinsdale is more likely to be the Master. The 15gb Drive is on the middle connector.

Hoever, looking at the jumper positioning diagram on the top of the HDDs (asuming the diagram means me to have the drive the normal way up) the Jumpers on the 30GB drive are set in a way that it would appear to be the slave, but the 15gb has no jumpers at all (which is not listed as an option in the diagram).

Can anyone tell me a safe technique to be 100% sure I get these the right way round?

The 30Gb drive is the A drive, which has to be jumpered as master.

If you look closely at the jumper diagram, you can see the single pin in the column marker 'key'. Therefore the master position is next to the single pin. Also, if you look on the PCB, next to the jumper block you can see the letters DS, CS and PK.

How about attaching the cable on the 2 drives to your pc's primary channel, your cd to the secondary channel, boot mfstools when you access hda, that will be the master, and hdb will be the slave. You can feel which one steps by touching the top of the drive.

Thanks chiefly to Robert S I now have a 2 X 120gb TiVo complete with TurboNet card:D

Previous owner closed his a/c but, despite the fact TiVo reports it'sself as account closed, according to TiVo his account isn't completed until 6th October.:mad:

They say get him to ring them but he's disappeared off the face of the earth :(

Oh well 2 weeks until I can use it it looks like.
