Dead Like Me (9/19/03) - Spoilers

Well, the show has just begun--but Daisy seems to have screwed up. She said she had sex with a 747 pilot, which means after 1970...but she claims to have been in Gone With The Wind, which would make her around 50 at the time. I suppose it's possible, but I suspect most airline pilots could do better than a 50-year-old failed actress...

[After the show ends] I note that Daisy died in December, 1939. That makes hash of the part of my theory where she was much more recent than she claimed. It also makes a lot of her stories lies, since she wasn't around at the time (the 747 pilot, e.g.). And since she died in Georgia (in a fire; wonder if we'll get that story?), it seems unlikely that she was involved with Gone With The Wind, which was filmed in LA.

(I wonder if it's significant that Gone With The Wind was released two days after she died?)

Since the reapers, while technically dead, appear to be normal people to everyone else, couldn't they have sex with normal people? I don't think the show has dealt with that subject but it would make an interesting story if the "boss" found out one of his reapers was having an affair with the living.
But there's another angle. The reapers can have sex with each other, as she keeps rejecting the advances of her co-worker (for now). Maybe the 747 pilot was another reaper.

But does any of this matter? None of this is real, it's just a TV show. Quite frankly, I feel silly even talking about it. Just enjoy the show if you like it.

As Daisy mentioned in that same episode, she prefers the living for sex (or, at least, a person being undead is a reason to not consider them for sex).

I thought she died in 1938, not 1939?

I didn't like her character at first, but I'm beginning to warm to her. I like how they have been developing their various characters over the past few episodes. I just wish they would go to a season being 20+ episodes, like the broadcasters.

I was at work paying half-ass attention to it....But was last night episode shorter then normal, like way less then an hour ?

All the episodes I've watched (beyond the pilot) clocked in at about 45 minutes long.

Medieval Guy, you are not with it this week. Since she became a reaper straight after she died she has been around since 1939 as well. I can't name the episode but I am sure the British guy made reference to having sex with people a number of times (he could be all talk of course).

I have liked the way they develop the characters (especially Daisy who I also did not like) but I must admit that at the end of each show, every week, my wife and I both comment that we never "get" the underlying message in each show. I see the deeper meanings but Georgia's last comments always seem to miss the point with me.

I agree, every episode I have watched has been around 45 minutes.

I always thought she claimed to have died DURING the making of Gone With the Wind. Eitherway, she definately is full of hot air at times.
