Boston public season premiere

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: omnibus

I found this show, as usual, entertaining. This premiere episode had me laughing outloud.

Guber, the assistant principal, calls a school rock singing group called "The stuttering fools" into his office to castigate them for their insensitivity at choosing a name. He finds out rather quickly that all 5 members are stutterers.

There was a scene where they had a half-dozen students lined up in a room and had them display their split/forked tongues. The producers must have put out a call in the L.A. area for those self-mutilating idiots. Probably did'nt take long to find them.

Yeah, I saw the thread a while back on the forked penis morons.

OUCH! I'm glad my wife had me pull the season pass before this aired. One picture of a forked tongue was WAY too much for me.

I was waiting for Guber to commit suicide. I even thought perhaps that he would shoot himself and Harper would find a note the next morning that said "Zero Tolerance" for bringing a weapon to school.

I enjoyed it as well. It is not at all realistic, but it takes you for quite a ride.
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
So, I guess that rape victim pulled one over on Ronnie Cook, huh? I wonder if that story was her idea, or her parents.

Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
so she made up the story about her being a boy trapped in a girls body? because she obviously lied about the fact she had not gotten into a college yet.

I enjoyed the show overall. Guber is acting like Captain Archer, all psycho and irrational. Goofy tough guy one minute, thoughtful tender dude the next.
The part where they almost lost me was the lip syncing stutterers singing in the class. Don't enjoy the song and dance that David Kelley insists on throwing in every episode. It's like one of those horrible variety shows my parents made me watch when I was little.......ARGH...flashbacks!!!!!

I haven't watched it yet, but in the past, I have had to announce in practically every episode "SONG BREAK" and hit the double FF. Too bad this is continuing.

I go back and forth on whether the girl's story was true or not... either she lied to Ronnie, or she lied to Smith College. It's pretty easy to say - oh, she lied to Ronnie, but what about the alleged rapist guy stating at least twice, very specifically, that "I don't rape [i]women[/]"? It seemed like he was too particular about that - i.e. he won't rape women, but he will rape she-males or hermaphrodites or whatever she was.

Thoughts?

I did not get a recording of BP because I live in the San Francisco Bay area and it said baseball was on and BP was on at 1am. I checked this twice.

I should have manual recorded it so I would have gotten it realizing that it was to be on.

But, with my sleep disordre of excessive daytime sleepiness I did not as this is my 2nd time posting this message and I hit back on the top of this page thinking it was send like a message and it was back on netscape explorer.

Duh to me!

I enjoyed it but the series really seems to be stretching. None of the stuff that happened really seemed plausable. I'll continue watching, but it just seems to get more and more out there every episode.

How do you do this spoiler alert thingie?

Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
Yeah, but how about the principal and the music teacher angle? ...bet you didn't see that coming!

I missed the season premire because my program guide data was wrong. Is there someone out there who is willing to send it to me?

Wasn't expecting that at all!! Just thought she was blowing guber off when she said she was actually seeing someone else.

I was disappointed that they didn't at least mention what happened to the teachers that left. It seems that it would have made for a better story if they fired the new teachers at the end of last season when there was that big budget issue and Harper was forced to fire some teachers. I too am sick of all of the singing. Also, I didn't remember Guber being a lawyer. Is that new or did I just forget that?

Overall I wasn't impressed by the premiere.

I got a kick of of Harvey Lipschitz's antics

Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
Only Harvey could "inherit" Viagra! That poor new teacher didn't know WHAT to think of him.

If anyone has a copy they can send me, I'd gladly pay twenty bucks for parts and labor. It got pre-empted here due to baseball and reshuffled to another channel so TiVo missed it.

Thanks!
Barry. :(

Every year teachers are gone from that show. I still miss the little blonde English teacher from about two seasons back. She's turned up on nip/tuck for a several episode arc, but her leaving was never explained.

I'll also jump in with a "me too" on the singing issue. Enough already.

With this show going head-to-head with JAG, I'm unlikely to see much of it this year anyway. Just as well.

Man, Seven of Nine ruins every show she blows into to "save."

If it's the teacher I'm thinking of, she was involved with Scott Guber. Do you need any more explanation on her absence? :)

Me too :D

I guess I have to get out a marker and check ALL of my SP's now that some shows have shifted around

Did he chop off her hand and lock her in his basement?
It seems that many characters just vanish from the show, is the HS built over a Hellmouth?

Thing is, teacher turnover in real life (from what I've been told by teacher friends) is really about as high as this show.

Teen pregnancy is actually higher in real life than on the show. Guess that plot line has been used enough...

I still have Boston Public, anyone that still needs it, send me an pm so we can work out the details.

I can totally believe the teachers leaving the way they do. It does happen a lot.

I just can't stomach the story lines anymore. I know it's TV and I'm supposed to sespend disbelief but I'm really having a difficult time with this.

The only character I can stand is Lipschultz.

I can't remember the season finale but wasn't Hansen about to get married? I thought it was cliff hanger that ended with him trying to make a decision. Can someone please refresh my memory?
