I only question because I recently changed my recording quality (from basic to medium) and now whenever I delete a show, I rarely get the chance to undelete it even an hour later via TiVoWeb.

I don't know for sure, but I'm going to venture a guess.

When you manually delete a recording, a database record corresponding to that recording is probably changed to show it as deleted. To undelete, TiVoWeb updates that record so the recording is no longer reflected as deleted.

Your issue is probably that you record a lot and your drive is almost always full. You delete a recording and 30 minutes later the TiVo has had to use that physical disk space for a new recording. Once the physical disk space has been used for a new recording, there is no undeleting.
