mute the beeps or volume control preference

I would like to turn the volume of the beeps down about 50% or mute them altogether.

I know it a small thing, but late at night the beeps are too loud.

could we just a controls preference panel for this, ff correction adjustment and even change the shortcuts.

hmm, take a look under Messages and Setup. Dig around and you'll find what you're asking for is already there.

I still think they can still add a few more preferences...
