Series 1, new $22 200GB drive, lba48 status??

I picked up on of the 200GB drives from Dell (see here for the details). It's a 7200rpm, 8MB cache drive which I know is overkill but I think it's destined for my Series 1.

So, I'm sitting with an original 14-hour series 1 that I upgraded with a 60GB 5400 rpm drive some time back (13gb drive removed). I was thinking that the 200GB would be very nice add, but I also know there is/was the issue of drives over 137GB. Alas I've been out of the hacking loop so I'm not sure what the current status of things are with regard to breaking the limit.

So, should I use the 200GB here, or use a 60GB maxtor (alas, not a fluid bearing model) that just got swapped under warranty? I'm also a bit concerned about memory with the larger drive slowing things wayyy down.

Dude, you'd better check that again. Dell has stated that it was an error and only 1 $100 rebate will be honored.

Read the 160Gb thread above (the good stuff starts at page 5). People seem to be using 200Gb drives without suffering unbearable slowness.
