quieting down a Tivo

Hi,

I just got a series 2 standalone box and was wondering if anyone has every modified their box to make it quieter. The unit is far from noisy, but you can still here if you are 3-4 feet in front of it.

I have D-TiVos, but the Weaknees Twinbreeze kits come with quieter fans, and my upgraded Maxtor drives run silent with the amset utility set to quiet.

Um...You're not going to get much better than that with a device that has moving parts. If you're sitting that close to your TV, you need to move back a bit. :)

1. Use a quiet drive with a fluid bearing.
2. Set the acoustic management to the quietest setting with the drive maker's utility.
3. Swap the fan to a Vantec Stealth 6025 quiet fan.
4. Stick a piece of DynaMat on the inside of the top cover. (available at car stereo shops).
