Subject says it all. I'm upgrading my Hughes Series 1 DirecTivo. I've seen lots of posts about different HDs not supporting acoustic management programs and some HDs which are very quiet right out of the box. Could someone sum it all up?

I turn on quiet mode via the amset utility with my Maxtors prior to TiVo-lizing them and they are silent. Others say the Seagates are quiet out of the box. No experience with them or Western Digitals though ...
