Help - Series 2 Upgrade Question

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I know I can't be the first person to try this. I have a Series2 80hr unit and I am looking to add a 120GB drive B to it. I have the drive and the twinbreeze kit.

My question is - after reading the hinsdale guide several times - what procedure do I follow? Each one seems to have small details that don't fit my scenario.

Should I copy the 80gb drive to the 120gb drive, then expand the drive, then add the 80gb back as a new B drive? Or can I just add the 120gb drive as a drive B? If so, how do I address the swap file issue? Can anyone give me the step by step for the best way? (or refer me to which pieces of the hinsdale to follow and in what order).

Thanks in advance for anyone's help!

If you're concerned about swap (and you will break mfsfix if you don't increase swap) then make the new drive the A drive so MFS Tools can increase swap for you.

If you like living dangerously, adding the new drive as the B drive is a much simpler upgrade (especially if you want to keep your recordings), but your TiVo will get stuck if it ever GSOD's. If that happens then you can do the 'rescue' from the third post of the Fixes thread.
