Upgrading and XP

Hey there,
Don't mean to sound stupid...but in the Hacking Guidelines there's a few footnotes about not using XP to upgrade because it does something to the drives, like adding a signature or something.
If I remember correctly, I had XP on my computer a few years ago the first time I upgraded my TiVo 1. Now I have two TiVo 2's and I want to upgrade them both. Is there an XP issues I need to worry about?
Thanx!
Shawn

Create a boot floppy (or CD). Disconnect your PC harddrive (use the channel for your Tivo drives) and you won't have a problem.

However...
If you make a backup of your Tivo drive on a drive from your Win Xp box and the Win XP drive contains the NTFS format (not FAT or FAT32), you will have trouble with MFSTOOLS. One solution is to backup the TIVO drive to your new drive for testing. The other way is to create a new non-NTFS partition on your WinXP drive for use in backup during your upgrade.
