I don't know if this goes under the option of stealing or not but I am going to ask the question anyway. Is there a way to use the usb port to connect to your network with out getting the hmo? I could care less about the other options that come with it, I would just like to have the option to make the daily call through my cable modem which is faster then dialup.

That ability is supported without buying HMO. No stealing needed.

FWIW, I just setup my Series2 with a Linksys WUSB12 and it was very easy.

CELESTPROF,
did you get HMO or just bought the WUSB12 and plugged it in?
thanks

Just the WUSB12.
I live in a 1 room apartment. Not much sense in me getting the HMO! ;)

I just hooked up my new 80hr Series 2 to my network, no problem at all - NO HMO here! When I plugged in the USB adapter, I immediatley got a pop up on the Tivo saying it had detected a network card.:)

Can you do anything else besides connect to tivo via your home network? I have a cable modem and a WAP, just wondering... getting the USB12 this week.
Thanks...

Just wondering if this will work with a Hughes Tivo unit HDVR2? Also do you have to use DHCP? I have assigned IP's to my computers so they don't grab different IP's everytime the power blinks. BTW I have a Linksys access point. Thanks.

Will NOT work on an unmodified HDVR2 (or DSR7000, or any other combo box).

BSNelson - You mentione it won't work with a DSR 7000? How about a DSR 6000? I am thinking about purchasing a DSR 7000. But want to make sure I can connect it to the LAN.

Where can I find the modification to make this work on a HDVR2?
Posted by: bsnelson
Sorry.. I meant that it won't work on any series 2 combo box (there's more than just Hughes and Philips now). It WILL work on a DSR6000, that's a series 1 box, but the DSR7000 is a series 2, and it will NOT work on that box.

Sarge, I think I misspoke. I don't believe there's even a working hack to do the daily call through LAN on the series 2 combos. Other stuff, perhaps, but not the daily call. :)

So this will not work for my samsung sir-s4120 DTiVo?
