Ok, here is the deal...
My Tivo "A" Drive is jumpered to master and on my secondary master IDE. My new Maxtor is set to slave, and is connected to my primary IDE. My primary master IDE is my hard drive(my C: drive).
I got through:
mkdir /mnt/dos
mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/dos
I can then LS mnt/dos and see my hard drive
When I type:
mfsbackup -6so /mnt/dos/tivo.bak /dev/hdc
I get the following error:
mfs_load_volume_header: mfsvol_read_data: Invalid Argument
mfsbackup: Backup failed to start. Make sure you specified the right devices, and that the drives are not locked.
So, I went into my bios, and all three hard drives are listed. When my linux boot takes place, I can see the size of primary drive and the size of the new drive(but not the tivo drive).
Please help, this is the third night in a row I've been working on this.

Sounds like the A drive may not be connected properly - you should see at least something for hdc during boot. Are you sure it's getting power at startup? Can you gently lay a hand on it and feel for vibrations? Was it working before you started all of this?

I can even put it back in my tivo, and it works fine...
