"TIVO" Wishlist -- Warning!

Twice now I've gone to my NP list only to see a recording in progress. Not just any recording, but a 12+ hour (!) recording of a repeating infomercial called "DirecTV with TiVo" that advertises the combo box to DTV customers. First time I just thought it was a glitch (maybe I hit record on the remote in the middle of night?) Second time I was concerned... what was going on?

Turns out it was recording because a few months ago I set up an auto-recording WishList for any shows that had "TiVo" in the description. I caught a few good ones, like Oprah reviewing it and other sitcoms that had TiVo's in their plotline.

If I hadn't upgraded the capacity of my TiVo, I might have been real angry to see all of my recordings gone to accomodate this LONG recording.

So to anyone like me who's set up an AR WL for "TiVo" -- look out for this one. Best I can tell this "infomercial" repeats hundreds of times and is listed as one looooong show. Left alone one night and it could wipe out all of your previous recordings!

Only one solution - Delete "Tivo" wishlist.
Maybe this will hit home and Tivo will add NOT to wishlists.

I kept the wishlist but turned off the "auto-record." I guess I can just check the wishlists occasionally and record shows individually... not the same, but I have to avoid the possibility of that recording happening again!

This appears to be only a DTiVo phenomena.

I posted about this here. It did this again last Friday. It does not appear to be a normal ARWL recording.

I'm confused because it recorded from channel 237, a channel I do not receive and is not even listed on the channel list at all. An ARWL wouldn't do this.

Also, several airings show up in recording history as not recorded due to the 28 day rule, yet it "broke" the rule by recording again Friday.

While it was recording, I switched to live TV to the tuner it was using. It immediately stopped recording and the screen showed only the "channel unavailable" banner. The program was removed from the NP list and History showed it was deleted. None of this would have happened for a normal ARWL program.

Although the TiVo ARWL may have triggered this, it doesn't behave at all like a normal program. DTV seems to be manipulating our DTiVos in strange ways. In the meantime, I've turned off AR for the TiVo WL and tightened my foil beanie a couple of notches. Maybe somebody (TiVoPony?) might clue us in.
