Carnivale: ongoing series?

I've seen some people post that Carnivale is intended to be a mini-series, not continuing series. I think that came from an interview with the main writer. I've hoped this was not so, as I'm really enjoying it and would prefer if it didn't just disappear after 12 episodes or so.

Anyway, HBO has an interview with 2 of the executive producers:

It's relatively spoiler-free. An example of the quotes:

HBO: Dan had said that he initially expected to get further along the story arc in the first season than you eventually did.

DAWN PRESTWICH: I think what ended up happening is that it became clear that what we all really wanted was character development. We wanted to really invest in the characters, because that was the only way we were going to care about what happened to anyone.

SO it sounds like it will be an ongoing series. Pretty cool, if they keep the quality up.
