Ok my hard drive is dead and I've never used my TiVo (bought it second-hand). My boyfriend formatted a 30 gig drive according to the instructions we found through this forum. Since the old drive is dead do we need to install any firmware or software on the new drive before we put it in the TiVo? The instructions are confusing as they seem to only explain how to backup old drives that will be replaced rather than explaining how to completely replace a dead drive without backing it up.
