Upgrade Question

Hey, sorry if this has been asked before but I searched and couldn't find an answer to it. I've upgraded my own SA S2 TiVo easily following Hinsdale's, however I am going to visit a friend who wants to upgrade his TiVo (his wife is unhappy with the NFL and MLB games deleting all of her stuff). He wants me to do it since I have done one before. However he only has a laptop at his place. Is there any way for me to prepare a second drive for him at my house so I can just put it in there (with appropriate brackets and such) and it will work? I'm not sure how to add a drive w/out using mfsadd. Thanks a lot!

You can do this with BlessTiVo, but it's a bit more fiddly with a Series 2 (Hinsdale does cover it). I'd recommend using MFS Tools if at all possible, though.

The problem is that he has no regular desktop PC at his place and it's a plane flight away... I don't really want to lug my computer on the plane with me (who knows what security would do to me). I know that Weaknees and all of those upgrade places sell 2nd drives that need no computer, but he doesn't want to spend that much $$$ if possible.

Just make sure you get the model number of his box before you bless - you need to boot in "noswap" for newer models.
