Just to confirm I screwed pouch

I'm doing my third upgrade: a Series 2 using a 200gig Maxtor (hoping someone had overcome the 137gig barrier or would soon). I saw that the new drive was reporting only 10megs, but re-reading my how-to, I went to use qunlock. It wasn't until I dug a little further that I realized this wasn't the thing to do. Qunlock apparently has left me with a really big 10meg drive. Any hope before I throw the drive around the room? Thanks!

Well, the drive will have to go back to Maxtor, but it's not obvious that you did anything wrong.

Why did the drive lock in the first place? Did you put it in the TiVo? If you did, then qunlock should have unlocked it (there's a whole thread on this about half-way down the page).

However, some people have reported that there drives were locked when they got them, in which case nothing you did would affect it.

So what is this "Pouch" you speak of, and how did you screw it?:D

I believe the proper expression is 'Screwed The Pooch'

Yea, I guess "pouch" doesn't make much sense. Some kind of disturbed sexual metaphor... not a normal metaphor like "screwing the pooch" :). Sorry I was typing fast without paying attention.

Thanks for the confirm. Will return the Maxtor to manufacturer.

Used a Western Digital instead - didn't get in Barney this time - smooth as a exotic dancer's waxed... legs. And no more phone calls with the Linksys network adapter. Sweet.

Anybody know if there's a way to use serial control on a Series 2 and a Scientific Atlanta digital cable box?
