Is it possible to just download an image that you can apply to a 2nd b drive and slap it in my tivo? I just recieved my new hdvr2 and instead of taking the a drive out and mounting and unmounting and such, can i just apply some file or image to the b drive i plan to put in it and be done? thanks alot.

- just wanna add a 120 gig b drive for some hours. thats it :-)
if i can do this can u guys point me in to right direction to do so?

You can use BlessTiVo, although it's not that easy to use on a Series 2.

There isn't an 'image' as such on the B drive - BlessTiVo triggers an upgrade module in the TiVo software that expands the MFS set on to the B drive.

It's not that hard to get the A drive out, and it's a good idea to make a compressed backup.

I'm in the same boat. I have a HDVR2 and a A disk with 35 hours recording time. Just bought a new 120GB drive to load into B slot. Let me know what happens with your install. I'll be installing mine this week.

unfortunatly, i think the only safe way to upgrade the tivo with a b drive is to use the hinsdale method. i am looking up the bless tivo now. as far as making backup, i believe the guy at http://www.tivostuff.com has a backup for the HDVR2 already, so i think i can download that and just do the mfsadd useing the hinsdal method and be all good? correct?

Actually BlessTiVo is a 'Hindale method' (well, Old Hinsdale).

I'm really not sure what the problem is. Just pull the A drive, make a backup and then either mfsadd the B drive or copy the A drive on to it.
