Would rather ask the question before I even start...

The HD died on my TCD240080 (80GB). I didn't have a backup and the tivostuff site is not letting me download. I have a TCD240040 (40GB) - can I use the image from this unit from this unit to restore my broken one?

As a general rule, you should not use images from one model TiVo on another model TiVo. There are some exceptions, and at least for now, you can use a 3.x or 4.0 240040 image on a 240080. If you are using a 4.X image, you must do a "clear and delete everything" after you boot the TiVo for the first time.

thanks...going to preform CPR on my 80GB now
