Is it possible to adjust Acoustics Management settings in a new Seagate Barracuda? Is there a program like Maxtor's AM Set?

I asked the same question in numerous places. I assume you have a Barracuda 7200.7 drive (probably bought at CompUSA?) Anyway, it appears that Seagate has *DISABLED* AAM in the Barracuda V and 7200.7 drives due to some patent infringement.

It's unfortunate, as the drive is whisper quiet when it's idle -- the seeks are quiet, but not quiet enough...

Assuming it's appropriate for your system you can try Intel Application Accelerator. As I recall it has settings for accoustics vs speed, etc.
