Well, the instructions said to, "After celebrating make sure to give thanks to Tiger for Mfs Tools." Lets throw in Hinsdale and WeaKness as well.
The initial plan was to upgrade from a stock HDVR2 to two 160GB hard drives, but I had to go with just one for now, although it is running with WeaKnees's bracket and fans. It's also running cooler too.
However, I decided to go with "Update Configuration #3", which means that everything copied from my original HDVR drive gets copied over to the 160GB hard drive. Even though I'm running a AMD 2200+ system with 512MB of RAM, the copying process took over 3 hours. This is probably more of a I/O issue than a processor/RAM issue. Make note: If you want to upgrade this way, start the copying process, then go to bed. Reassemble in morning.
The advantage of this upgrade method is that I can just hook up the second drive, do a mfsadd, and then be done with it.
I noticed that, for the first few hours of the upgrade, I really heard the hard drive. I suspect the TiVo software was optimizing the existing programs to fit the expanded space. Now it's quiet.
Like I said, it took longer than expected, but Cartoon Network messed up on the airing of The Big O. so no worries.
