Does anybody still watch Frasier?
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I haven't watched Frasier in years, but I saved last weeks because of the guest star (Lillith), and I just got around to watching it. I thought it actually wasn't that bad! Especially if you're a Star Trek fan (you had to see that particular episode to know what I mean)...

My wife and I still love it. We are glad they are winding the show down, but this last couple of seasons have been pretty good.

I fell off the Frasier bandwagon a few seasons ago, and decided to give it another chance since it's the final season. It's actually gotten a lot funnier since I left. The episode where Patrick Stewart guest starred was an absolute riot.

It's the only sitcom left that isn't directed at morons.

We're quite happy with it and expect it to stay of high quality till the end.

I stopped watching for a couple of years when it was on opposite Smallville -- this was before I had my TiVo, and I had to make choices, now no such problem :D. I started watching again this season knowing it was the last, but it looks like they won't be at the radio station too much. I liked the mystery guest callers and Bulldog, etc. Any idea if this part of the show will resume?

I haven't watched it in years also, but my partner saved it on his Tivo because of the Star Trek reference so I could watch it. That was some funny stuff there!!!

Last weeks episode was a repeat I think from last year. It was a pretty funny episode. This season has been one of the best so far. Now that 24 is starting though there will be some conflict, but I will find a way to keep watching it.

We still have a SP because my wife loves this show. But I have to agree that this [last] season has been very funny. That show with Patrick Stewart was one of the funniest in a looooong time. I believe they got back the original writers that made a show a hit early on.

You are correct. They brought back Christopher Lloyd (no relation to the actor) if I remember correctly, and a couple of others.
That's one of the handful of reasons I came back. I loved the material in the first few seasons. The fact that they're over the whole Niles and Daphne thing helps as well.

I thought it was Christopher Lloyd the actor. Oh well.
Completely agree with the Niles/Daphne thing as well.

I never really gave up on Frasier. Sure, I didn't laugh as much as I did at the beginning, but it was like an old dog you just can't put to sleep. Anyway, this season's definitely been on the upswing and they've been challenging the idea of Frasier as the perpetual loner who can't hold a relationship a bit more.

I stopped watching but I will probably watch the finale. Kelsey Grammer was on The Today show and said Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
He had an idea all along on how the show should end someday, probably with Frasier going to another city. Could it be he goes back to Boston? Maybe buys Cheers?

OK, I'll bite, what "Star Trek" reference show is everyone talking about.

I was originally talking about the episode of Fredrick's bar mitzvah, where Frazier had to give a blessing to his son in Hebrew. By mistake he accidently learned another speech and gave it in...Klingon. But I hadn't thought about the other episode mentioned here, the one where Patrick Stewart guest starred as a gay man falling for Frasier.

I've stayed with Frasier from the beginning. While there have been some low points it has remained one of the better sitcoms on TV. I didn't watch last nights episode because of a 2 hour Nova on PBS about string theory. But Frasier is still on my Direct TiVo to be watched tonight.

We caught the "Sheila" episode this morning before work (all hail TiVo). Very well done - not as side-splitting funny as the Patrick Stewart episode but enjoyable in its own right. Niles' riff on Dr Seuss made it for me.

I didn't like last night's episode too much. It seems they are rehashing the same themes over and over again and last night, they kind of threw them out there again. We saw:
Frasier evesdropping on a conversation and miscontruing it.
Roz pretending to be one of the Crane's girlfriends
One of the Crane's kissing up to some semi-famous person just to meet them/ hang with them.
To me, this is a show that needs a kick in the pants, some big event (maybe Daphne's baby will be it), to make it more interesting.

Since there's no Spoilers tag in the topic, and some of us haven't seen last night's episode yet, can we please avoid the spoiler talk? Thanks. :)

When, at least since "I Love Lucy", has adding a baby to a show, that did not previously have a focus on children, improved it? Some have survived the new baby. I can't think of any that have prospered. Adding the baby is a sure sign of a series in its death throws. (I don't think that completely applies here, since we already know this is the last season.)

That's been the pattern for Frasier for the last few seasons. Once the Niles/Daphne romance was resolved, the number of themes/plots dropped considerably.
I've enjoyed Frasier during it's run, but it's time for the show to go. Maybe they can spin off David Hyde Pierce a show of his own! Not necessarily as Niles (what would you do about Daphne?), but as a new character. And God hopes that the spinoff would be better than those done by the Seinfeld alumns.

Maybe the baby is not the answer, but they keep rehashing the same plots over and over again and it's getting old. If this wasn't the last season, I'd probably cancel the SP, but I'll stick it out until the end.

The Patrick Stewart episode was a riot. I'll definitely watch that one again.

Murphy Brown lasted 4 years after the birth of Avery, iirc. I thought the birth of the baby and the whole Dan Quayle thing was done rather well by Diane English and company.
