I have a series 1 30 hr Tivo.

I Purchased it used from someone and have only used it once to test it. I don't care about any of the settings whatsoever since they are all someone else's settings. And would prefer not to keep any of his settings whatsoever.

I have a 80 gig Drive i want to chuck in there. Can I dload a blank image for it and install that to the drive then just replace the tivo drive with my 80 gig drive?

Also, I haven't opened it up yet so I dont know if its a single or dual drive model, if its dual does that mean I have to do anything different?

Where would I be able to get the image from?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No need to find an image.. using hinsdales instructions.. you'll be able to back up the unit, then move that image onto the new, bigger drive..

Then, when all is done...you can do a "Clear and reset" everything from the Tivo menu... it will become a brand new system as if it was just taken out of the box.. All his settings will be gone

You probably have a single drive unit.. What is the model #?

Under Hinsdales instructions I want to do UPGRADE CONFIGURATION #2:

From: Any Single or Dual Drive TiVo

To: New A with B Drive |or| New Single Larger A Drive

Correct?

That's correct

I'm by no means an expert... but.. Last week I did my Series1 stand alone using the directions and it was real easy
