Forgot to tivo an episode of your favorite show? Download it!

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Volk

Download it.

First, go to this website and download and install Azureus (a bit torrent client): http://azureus.sourceforge.net/

Then visit http://tvt.no-ip.info/ and click on the show name to download it.

There is also http://www.suprnova.org/ under "TV Shows". (Don't DL any of the other stuff). You can use http://novasearch.net/ to search suprnova for other episodes.

Check the day of the episode and day after. After the first few days they disappear.

IBTL = In Before The Lock

This thread will probably be locked and deleted soon.

I was about to post asking how I can get last week's Boston Public. Thanks to this thread I may not have to. Glad I saw this before somebody goes rhunning to a mod to report it.

IBTD!! Wow, I got two messages in so far!

Posted by: Mars Rocket

There have been numerous threads that mention bit torrent and discussions of where/how to download shows off of usenet newsgroups...where does it say we can't discuss such things once in a while?

Similar discussions of where to get MP3s were not closed or deleted (cf. http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-v...threadid=126212 for example.)

This isn't the same thing as video extraction.

Why not DL any of the other stuff? In for a penny, in for a pound, right? :D

Posted by: dswallow

I suppose some people are doing it for amusement value in this case, considering that once it got started it went off in oddball directions, but the whole "IBTL" commentary some people always feel necessary to post is just really sad.

Just because you (may) have other attributes worthy of praise doesn't mean you're going to get praised for spelling "IBTL" correctly. ;)

Whew, that was a close one. I'm glad that I went with the more prestigious "IBTD".

Oblivion = Happy Hour

If we can get about 50 posts together that give places to download TV shows we can get back on topic. ;)

I just can't figure out why Video Extraction talk is a no-no, but talking about where to download copyrighted material illegally is ok...

I thought I read an article from a network exec that it wouldn't be as bad if the commercials were included with the copy?

WTF is this azures and suprnova crap? Obviously not something for your basic computer user. I can not only not get anything to work, I can't understand the freaking instructions! So I missed Boston Public, I'll live.

Actually if you simply install a BitTorrent client (there are many), all you need do is click on the links given at those sites while looking at the with IE or another browser to start things downloading; it automatically starts up the BitTorrent client.

This place never ceases to amaze me. The seemingly completely innocuous threads get blown into oblivion, yet, one that is clearly in violation of copyright, remains.

Exactly my point... Talking about wether to report someone stealing DSS is banned, but this one has been open all day....

Posted by: cmontyburns

If there is a copyright lawyer in the house, I would be interested in hearing an actual informed opinion about whether this is illegal. My uninformed belief is that it is not likely to be, at least not for content originally aired on broadcast television, which you get for free anyway. Comparing it to downloading music or pirating DSS, which are not available for free, does not seem valid. Anyway, this topic and these sites have been covered extensively in the mainstream media (have seen reports in USA Today and the Wall Street Journal among others, all of which named the sites and tools named in this thread) -- no big secrets here. No reason to delete the thread that I can see.

Do you have one of those radios you have to put quarters into? I get my music for free. :D

Not free though.. does the version you download have all the commercials in it? After all, its the advertisers that paid for the program your watching.

Pretty much. Doesn't mean it would have stayed open otherwise; it just saved me from that whole internal-debate/weighing-the-merits move/close/destroy thing.

Don't bother trying again, though; the topic will be shut down on the basis of residual stupidity until this thread has faded from memory.

Thanks! Going to a site other than the one cited in the first post of this thread I was able to download and install one of these bittorrent thingamajigs because a site I found didn't have a million confusing directions. I couldn't find any Boston Public episodes anywhere that would let me download them. I am currently downloading a "That 70s Show" to test it all out.
