Multi-Room Viewing Problem

I am having difficulty using the multi-room viewing option. I recently purchased HMO for my 2 TIVOs and still cannot this feature to work. Yesterday I was able to get one TIVO to be able to access the other but today neither one sees the other. Both TIVOSs are on the same account, one is hard wire connected and the other wireless, both are enabled for multi-room viewing, and both IP addresses are on the same domain (204.146.159.100 and 204.146.159.104). Does anyone have any suggestions?

Does the other TiVo show up in the Now Playing list?
While in the Now Playing list, you can press a zero followed by a thumbs-down for the "Advanced Troubleshooting" screen. This should show the other PVR units that it knows about.
Make sure that Multi-Room viewing is turned on in the Manage My Account - DVR Preferences screens at TiVo.
Are both units able to connect successfully to the TiVo service for updates?

The other TIVO does not show up in either "Now Playing List". It did on one but is no longer there. I will try the zero followed by a thumbs-down trouble shooting suggestion and see what I find.

I've had something go weird from time to time with the adapters I use. Restarting the TiVo usually resolves it. I think part of my problem is that one unit only gets about a 25% strength signal -- and when one of my neighbors was running a wireless network on the same channel as me things just got weird.

Change the channel and get a bettwer AP antenna. :D

I configured both of my TiVo's with DHCP and have had no problems with one seeing the other or vice versa. Have you tried that? Maybe someone in the configuration is setup to be DHCP and is trying to configure that way and is hosing up the system. My system has been up for about a year and no problems yet (crossed fingers!) Good luck and keep us informed about what works and what doesn't...

Have gotten everything to work, thanks for all of the help. I will say that I am disappointed with the Tivo to Tivo sharing. It is way to slow to be usable. Is that the way it is supposed to work?

The speed depends on the quality setting of the recording. Also, I understand that the use of a wireless adapter can adversely affect speed, but I'm not sure by how much.
For me (with my wired connections), I find that I can generally watch programs recorded at Medium as they are transferring, even FFing through the commercials, without bumping up against the end of the green bar. Higher quality recordings need a bit of a head start.

Have my TIVOs connected via a powerline network and it takes hours to transfer a 30 minute program.

Well, aren't powerline less than 10mb/sec? Thats SLOW.

Actually, the powerline modules should be faster than wireless. Although wireless is rated at 11Mb/sec -- it's not full-duplex. So, at best you'll get 5.5 Mb/sec and if you're going through an wireless access point or router, you'll be down to 2Mb/sec speeds
Note that the USB in the TiVo is only running USB 1.1 drivers which is limited to 12Mb/sec.
Back to the transfers taking a long time, it could be from some source of powerline interference (some intercoms and baby monitors use the powerline to transmit). What level of quality is your recording. Basic quality recordings transfer via a pure wireless setup in less than real time.
