HDTiVo Forum?
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Just laying the groundwork here, but when the HDTiVo finally arrives, it may be different enough to warrant it's own forum. I can't believe how many HDTV questions from newbies we've had lately. I don't follow the HMO forum since I don't have it, but hopefully it's getting HMO users the answers they want and letting us non-HMO users help others.
Oh well, no one's started a thread in this forum for a while so I thought I would. :)

Hello...Yes, will for sure be considered. :)

I'm a newbie with DirectTV Tivo. Just finished talking with Direct TV and
found out about needing to get a separate Direct TV box for HD and connecting both to the tv. Any idea how long before Tivo will be formatted to get HD.

Existing TiVos will never be able to record HDTV. A new DTiVo with that capability is supposed to be out early next year.

We should start it now so people have their own forum to go speculating in :D
(yes, I have HDTV envy :()

Can we have the HDTiVo forum soon?
The only thing I regularly check this site for at the moment is HDTiVo news; and as there is someone with the name "HDTiVo", searching becomes difficult.
Thanks!

I'm all for a separate HD-oriented forum for TiVo stuff. I've no interest in high-def and would love to not have to wade through those threads.

I'm thinking sometime before January 8 would be good since there's bound to be LOTS of chatter after DirecTV and TiVo make their CES press releases.

That's actually my reason as well. Same for the HMO thread. Not interested and can't help those who have it. But is does concentrate those who do so that they can easily help each other. Win-win situation! :)

Please add the forum sooner than later; those of us that are drooling over the HiDefDirecTivo (HDDT??) are spending too much time looking for the latest info buried in the regular DirecTivo forum.
Since we all know it's coming, why wait??

Yes, please create a separate forum!! I'll be ordering mine as soon as possible.

I don't know, creating a new forum before the new unit is released seems premature, and may screw up TiVo's/DirecTV's planned promotional schedule.
And it will probably be the longest forum name yet: High Definition DIRECTV Receiver with TiVo Brand Service.

Such power a "new forum" would have. Incredible. Wow.

Since the HD DirecTiVo requires an antenna to receive HD locals, I think that by itself is a major enough change that a new forum would be quite useful.
Add in the larger hard drive capability, the extra outputs (component and HDMI), and you get a lot of questions that people with regular DirecTiVos don't care about.

Any chance this could be merged with the "High Definition Forum?" thread? They're nearly identical, and it's ever so fun to watch separate-but-equal discussions become one.

OK, new forum now added. Please be sure to post in the right area. We will more threads from the other areas as we see them.
Thank you.
