I'm getting the same error. My TiVo last made a successful call with the Airnet board and a Linksys WPC11 on 01/08/2004 at 3:40 PM. I never noticed if this error message was in the logs before but assume it wasn't as everything WAS working with bash prompt via telnet and tivoweb running without problems.

Did the kernel get rev'd? I wasn't expecting this to EVER happen on my Series 1 TiVo but perhaps there was a rev sitting on the alternate root partition...

Not sure how the airnet installer works. Does it install different .o files depending on the kernel that it finds on the box? I'm thinking all I need to do is pull the drive(s) and reinstall and this might go away. That is a real pain though as I am a Mac shop and have to practically shred my work PC to do this.

Any other suggestions would be cool...

Did see one other post where somebody got a replacement Airnet card from 9th Tee. Log messages suggest a software problem but could this be hardware???

Thanks all...

OK... more information. I enabled backdoors and am thumbing through the logs using the remote (what a pain!!!... can't believe I used to think this was cool!)
Looks like the logs rotated on the day the last successful call was made (Jan 8, 04)... Looking at /var/log/0tclient I'm seeing a log event from the comm task as follows...

comm[145]: Finished HttpGet in after Success, got 0x0
comm[145]: checking for new software
comm[145]: NewSoftware: getting SwSystem name
comm[145]: NewSoftware: SwSystem 3.0-01-1-0000 is already a

I wonder if a software update came in that had the same number but was really a new kernel? Got to look at the kernel logs to see what the version numbers were around this time. Might have had a reboot to see...

More later.

OK... more information again.

Talked to my friend, also a TiVo geek, who looked at the logs on his TiVo with Airnet. He's got the same kernel version and same messages in his logs but his TiVo is making calls. We were going to swap airnet cards but I decided I better POWER CYCLE the TiVo before swapping to make sure.

Indeed, after a complete POWER CYCLE, the airnet card IS detected once again the drivers load and the network does work.

Don't know if this is a problem with the the airnet card (still could be I guess) but I'd recommend a power cycle for anybody who is having problems with theirs.
