Hey,

I am trying to upgrade my RCA DVR39 DirecTivo and everthing has gone smooth up until I get ready to enter the linux commands to copy my drives.

I am using MFS TOOLS to do Hinsdale's Upgrade Configuration #3: ( From: Any Single Drive TiVo To: New A and New B Drive |or| New Single Larger A Drive ). This way I would be able to save all of my recordings.

I bought 2 new 80 gb drives and I figured I would just store the original 40gb hard drive as a backup. Anyway, here's my question, the following linux command has brought me to a halt :

" mfsbackup -Tao - /dev/hdc | mfsrestore -s 127 -xzpi - /dev/hda /dev/hdb "

How do I type the character that looks like a straight vertical line between /dev/hdc AND mfsrestore ??? Is this just the small letter L ? I just wanted to ask someone who knows and not take any chances.

I am just making this too hard or what ? Please help.

Thanks, reidr

It's a pipe character - usually shift-backslash.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED !!!!!

I'm now up to 144 HOURS of recording time. The two 7200 rpm, 80 gb Maxtor drives are running at 40 degrees. All went smooth thanks to the great instructions I have found in this forum. And the Twinbreeze Kit made it very easy.

Thanks, again, reidr
