I probably lack imagination, but I'm guessing that the hard drive upgrade is the only hardware upgrade discussed here, and any other upgrades are at the software level. I see the threads talking about new versions of this or that ISO, but I don't see people outright stating what the things do; it is evidently common knowledge so nobody talks about it.

Well, I don't have a clue, so that's why I'm making this post. ;P Just what sort of "hacks" would one potentially want to perform on a Tivo? Really, the increase in recordable hours is the only thing I can think of. Is there somewhere I ought to look to find a more or less complete listing of what the various hacks or hack packages enable?

There are a few other hardware updates. You can add Ethernet (either wired or wireless) to your Series 1 TiVo and 9th Tee is also working on a expension card to allow for faster menu's and such, using standard PC memory for cache.

There are also lots of software hacks out there. Rangin from setting up FTP, Telnet, Web access for setting up season passes and other such stuff and many others.
