I just restored a compressed image onto my SVR-3000's original 80 GB drive (my month-old DiamondMax Plus 9 160 GB drive failed). The image was populated with 40 or so SPs and pointers to recordings which weren't actually there.

After my TiVo connected to the service, downloaded and spent an hour and a bit processing the download (Settings->Phone & Network Setup says, 'Completed') I deleted the nonexistent recordings and fiddled with my SPs. Everything seemed fine, except my To-Do List was empty.

I was able to manually select a program from my guide (my guide at least was correctly updated) and mark it for recording and *that* showed up in the To-Do List.

Selecting that just-scheduled recording and selecting View Upcoming Episodes indicates that there are no upcoming episodes (even though I'm about to record one).

Similarly, Select Program by Title showed no upcoming titles.

Is this common behaviour? How long should it take? Is this Indexing which has not yet completed? GC? What does GC stand for, anyway?

Yes, everything except the raw lists of programmes is generated by the indexer, so you won't get all your SP's scheduled until the indexer completes. Aparently this can take many hours on a new DTiVo.

GC stands for Garbage Collection.
