Homer is at thekitchen table, the clock clearly shows 9 o clock. Marge says "it's 2 in the morning." How much do they pay those people anyway :)

The CC text and the voices often don't correspond on the Simpsons. They always have the same effect (same tone, same type of thing) but I wonder if the censors made them revoice something and they didn't bother to change the CC text (CC text is often a little more crude than the audio).

some time in the 70's, marge is pregniant with bart, bart is 9 (since he is in fourth grade) so its sometime in the 80's, weird

I would think a lot of that stuff is intentional, just for viewers to catch.
Just like the 'news' blurbs that used to run along the bottom of the Simpson's newscasts....

You mean those weren't real? I thought everything on the show was 100% accurate. :p

I know I've seen this thread somewhere...

I thought Bart was 10 and Lisa is 8?
Posted by: bigpuma
The show has been on for over 13 years and they haven't aged, but we are worried about what time it is?

You don't remember the time vortex that causes cartoon characters never to age?

Yeah, but "If they say it on TV, It Must Be True!"

I forgot to front-pad the episode on Sunday 11/9, so I missed the blackboard and/or couch gag. Anyone care to fill me in?

The opening sequence was short, similar to that in the syndicated versions (at least for me) where they skip from the clouds directly to homer being nearly hit by the car - so no blackboard.
the couch sequence had them all aging rapidly and turning to dust

You mean it didn't start over three minutes late for everyone? I'm glad it recorded the repeat that came on after.

Say what you will, but I enjoyed the Beautiful Mind references. :)

Not the stuff with the closed captions. That's always because they decided to make a change to the audio very late in the post-production process...too late to have the captions redone.

And how do you know the clock was operating correctly? :D

One would assume since homer works for a nuclear plant that he always has electricity (probably free) :D

But if you don't see a cord coming from the clock, then it must be battery powered, and the batteries may be dead....
Or....
Homer took the plutonium rod out of the TV remote battery compartment and used it to "power" the clock.... The clock "stopped" and doesn't read time correctly, but also none of the characters ages at all....
coincidence, I think not
OK, i've watched too many episodes....

Take a look at the 'Complete Simpsons Guide" books. Wasn't the first time, probably won't be the last. Enjoy it anway! :)

Animation will use standard backgrounds that may never change. That clock could have read 9 ever since the series began.
This isn't something I've noticed. From now on, whenever there is a kitchen scene I'll check to see if the clock reads 9.
