Well. Looks like the show has taken yet another giant step back from the precipice that it was at early in the season... looks like those who said the show "jumped the shark" um... jumped the gun. Sorry, the pun just called out to me. :)
I know that SD-6 training was good - but was it THAT good? Syd kicked some serious BUTT in that scene in China... plus, the sword play - wow. Impressive looking. Hard to swallow a bit, but still very cool. Just prior to that, it didn't look like she needed much rehearsal in that "fight" that Sloane told her to make "look real" - though it was more of a slap than a fight.
They are (thankfully) driving a wedge between Vaughn and his wife, and it looks like they're getting Dixon out of being the director... both major steps toward bringing the show back to the show it was the first two seasons.

Nice way to recycle the training she got while making Daredevil.
Loved Marshall's little "invisible" car. If they ever show up at Radio Shack (minus the espionage equipment), I want one.
No wig or lingerie this time! They're slipping...
Liked it, anyway. Previews for next episode (two weeks from now) look promising, too.

Pretty good episode in all. Definitely liked when Jack had Vaugh and his wife held up then he moves in on the guy that is going to give up the information that Sydney killed that russian guy. Though in the end Sark goes and spoils it all anyway.
Sydney seemed off her game at the end not knowing something was up at the hotel. How did she know that the key Sloan gave her fit that hotel room anyway. Was it that code that was written on that paper?
And yeah the previews from the next episode look really good.

Yes, Dad decoded it (using Mom's code) and gave her the information over the phone...

Great episode! I really liked the tension when Sloane came into the CIA offices and with Sydney on the mission.

Vaughn's wife's reaction to his keeping information from her was just plain stupid. She would surely realize that would have to happen sometime.
Also, why did Sark go to the elaborate ruse of framing Javier Perez if his goal was just to get the NSC to realize who Julia thorne was? Why not just mail the damned photos to them and be done with it?

I liked this episode but I think I missed something. Had we seen Javier Perez before? Did he know who Julia was or did Sark have to tell him?
When did Sark find out that Julia = Syd...and for that matter that Julia killed his father?
I must have forgot...

Yes, he was a member of the team that Syd infiltrated. And he was the guy who called the British guy to tell him his meeting with Jack was a setup. I think it was a couple weeks ago that Sark told him who Jack was. I don't think it's been made clear when Sark knew. He's apparently known for quite some time.

Really? Seems like they just wimped out on the concept of trying to get a stunt-double who looked like JG and said "let's stick a ski mask on her head". If Ms Garner was really doing those stunts they wouldn't have covered up her face for the whole scene.

Watched it tonight... I thought this was maybe the best ep of the season thus far! I did think Vaughn's wife, while understandably emotional, should also have been a little more realistic about her expectations... I mean she married a guy who works for the same government as her so she should have known what to expect...
I also liked the invisible car! Wish I could use that technology to blow by the cameras at the toll booth....

The scene between Jack & Vaughn after the Mexico stuff was awesome....

This is a little loose for me. But I think of it as 3 pieces. From Sark laughing at Syd several weeks ago when he understood that she had no idea what she'd been doing for the last two years, I figured he knew much about it.
He didn't know who his father was until he was 'rescued', but had to give up the fortune his 'father' had left him.
That much has directly been in episodes. Although we've not seen it, I think it's pretty safe to assume Sark did some research about his father's murder, and found out it was 'Julia', and make the leap that he already knew who Julia was.
The only weak part of that is when Sark met with the thieves, and Julia/Syd was there, hiding her face. I don't remember hearing the leader mention the name Julia to Sark.

I need to (and want to) watch that scene again, but I assume it was mostly JG. She can and has done most of those moves, including the swordplay stuff (which she did in Daredevil). The "flip over kick" move might be a bit much to expect of her, so that was most probably a double.

also, I seem to remember that after Evil Francie came back, as they were lying in bed, Sark says that he wants to find out who killed his father - I just assumed that meant that he didn't already know. So how do we do the jump to this week's where he all of a sudden knows?

Jennifer was on Leno the other night, she said to expect a U-Turn middle of the season. More so than last year

I liked it. This is the show I fell in love with.

Fess up, you're just in lust with Jennifer like the rest of us! But yes, the show is moving in a good direction right now. Lots of twists and turns are possible.

You are 100% correct. I'm just waiting for another "punk/goth Sydney" like in the airport scene to No Doubt's hella good.

Amen to that.

Ok, I'm late to the game on this episode. I only watched it last night.
This was, IMHO, by far the best episode of the season. It almost resembled episodes from the first two seasons. Did anyone else notice that JJ Abrams went back to his old trick? The last few minutes seemed to be the lead-in for the next episode. I thought he was supposed to get away from that.
