I have done my home work, now it comes down to cost and fun. I can pick up a 30 Hr. Sony series 1 unit for $129, floor model. Or a new series 2 for $199.00. Or a upgraded 80 hr. series 1 for $219.00. What say everyone.

Series 2 hands down. I'd take a brand new unit for $79 more any day. Not to mention you get all the software updates with Series 2 and not Series 1.

Is the "upgraded" 80 hour new? If so, pretty good price. I'd stick with Series 2. Series 1's are getting pretty long in the tooth and aren't receiving any more SW upgrades or additional features.

go for the series 2 unit.

Most people should get a Series 2.

Get a Series 1 if you want to hack (beyond simply upgrading the disks) since modifying the software of Series 2 units is considerably more difficult.

Thanks for the information. The new Series 2 is now sitting on top of the TV, setup and running. Connected to the home network and waiting for me to play with it.
