Returning User: is 2.0 all you wished it'd be?

I kinda gave up on TiVo when i moved in January, giving my TiVo to my father, who then told me the modem is failing him...AGAIN. So, back my little TiVo goes, thanks to the Philip Priority Service Plan (5 yr. extended warranty...the first one to actually payoff!!), and (hopefully) I'll be back in the TiVo arena come a week or so.

Now. My question: I haven't used TiVo since the 1.3 days. Is 2.0 completely rolled out? Is it all you dreamed it'd be?

2.0 is currently still being rolled out. The rollout is not complete. I have no idea what percentage of customers are still running 1.3.
Basically, they're rolling out to random customers still, but most people on these forums already have 2.0 now.

Is it all I dreamed it'd be? Well no. World hunger still exists.
It's a decent upgrade and some of the new features are really nice. I don't use too many of the new features too often, but there are people that swear by the wishlists and the season pass manager and to them, 2.0 is an incredible upgrade.

I'll admit TiVo is better with 2.0, but I personally thought 1.3 was fantastic in its own right.

I'm not the person to give you the definitive answer.

Two quick observations:

1. Season pass manager was conspicuous by it's absence in ver. 1.3.

2. Ironic downside. Clever hackers discovered TIVO had 30 sec. skip right at the time 2.0.1 was rolling out. Unfortunately this feature was relost in ver. 2.0.1 as far as anyone can tell.

ybrew,

Been a while since I posted on here...good to see you're still around.

I just got the TiVo back from my father last weekend, plugged it in, and played around with the shows in Now Playing, and watching LiveTV. And I fell in love all over again. How DID I survive?!

Any idea when 2.0 BEGAN rolling out?

Nathan

p.s. You'd THINK by now, with all the requests for it from TiVo users, that solving world hunger would have been included! I wonder what the holdup is...

The random rollout started a few weeks ago. I did not have great expectations for 2.0, since I was happy with 1.3, so I was pleasantly surprised at some of the features.

Actually, I think 2.0 is more than it could be.

1.3 has some backdoor features that really make it nice.

The "show upcoming episodes" is a great way to handle conflicts on cable channels with v.2. I also like "watch first run only" season passes so you don't record repeats.
The one disappointment is with padding. While you can add time, you can't subtract it. This means if you record back to back shows on different channels, you can't add one minute to the first recording because it will conflict with the first minute of the second recording. This is something that can be addressed in a future upgrade.

The primary feature of 2.0 IMO is the ability to [easily, proprly] schedule and manage conflicting season passes. That feature, once you have it, is hard to live without.

The rollout of 2.0 isn't complete.

For me, I'm very happy w/2.0. The only feature I was looking for was padding. I held off on buying a Tivo until I read 2.0 was about to come out... I had to wait a few weeks, as apparently they were still in the middle of the Z15 release at the time.

But I definitely love the being able to prioritize my season passes and I love the "view upcoming episodes" feature. That latter is something I didn't think I would need until I used 1.3 for awhile. I also like the recording history.

As for the resolution drop people are complaining about, I didn't notice it, probably because I'm using composite outs into a 27" TV.
