I'm going to spoiler this in case someone didn't understand what I meant by next week or something. I mean the upcoming 11/20 episode of ER...this is a MAJOR spoiler....read at your own risk. :)

Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
I've been reading that Romano is the one who "dies" in the helicopter crash. They basically find an artificial arm and that's it. This is a fairly rampant spoiler on the internet, and I'm almost certain it's true. If it is true, I may be done with ER. Romano, for all his faults, was the most "real" of all the characters and made me laugh and cry. I HATE that they chose to do away with him this way...ANOTHER Helicopter. How sad.

And, in the episode following this one, his memorial is shown and only Corday is there. This also hacks me off. I mean, people hate him, but it's like a family...you love your fellow workers but don't really like them. I think back to everything he did for Lucy when she died, and the few times he's reached out to other characters. ERF. Just ticks me off that they wrote him out this way.

I was so mad when I read all this on various spoiler sites. Boo, ER writers! :)

And I'll say this, my brother, and I, both live in Illinois, and my brother's a medical resident here. All I can say is I'm darned glad he's not a resident at "county general" in "Chicago." They're always getting blown up. :D

I've heard the same thing. Your comments are spot-on regarding my feelings. The last two episodes were good and now this. See ya, ER.

Exactly. I posted that just because I really needed to whine about it.

Perhaps I should start a "Hacked Off At ER Writers" support group. :D

MAN why couldn't they have written him out by putting him in a vat of toxic waste? Then his skin could melt off and ask he's screaming "Help me! Help me!" around the corner comes Carter, who's returned from the Congo and WHAM!!! He splatters everywhere.

Directed by Paul Verhoeven, a very special episode of ER.

In the following episode, RoboGant returns to save the hospital from Red Forman.

The way he is written right now, losing him is no big deal. They went down a certain path that left him unredeemable. After the thing last year, the could have allowed him to have an epiphany, but instead, they went the other way. Frankly at this points is it a kindness. I agree that more would show up at the service even as a courtesy. The writers just don't know what to do and they took the exceedingly easy way out. I still like the characters (except for carter thought I like Noah Wylie), but the situations just suck mostly.

NBC is always very misleading in their promos for subsequent episodes. Maybe other hospital staff WILL be at the service, but NBC chose to show one scene where Corday was alone.

Anyway, is it CERTAIN that it's
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
Romano?
Is the actor definitely leaving? What if, in another twist,
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
it's really Carrie that dies? Her story line has been reduced, because she's really more interested in directing now. Maybe she finally wants to do that full time?

I wouldn't put it past NBC to have leaked misinformation, and to even kill off the Scott Grimes doctor. After all, the promo says "Someone you know will die", so all that means is it's a recurring character.

I would not be sad to see that SOB go. I thought it was going to be the new Indian Doc from England. I like her. She reminded me of . .. . is her name Lucy?

If the person described is the one that goes, them my season pass goes as well. It's the only reason I still watch.

It was pretty obvious in the last two episodes that they were creating maximum hate. Whenever they do this, it's because they want to make you feel bad when a character dies.

The show has become so predictable. Like the Bob Newhart episode. Yawn.

I'm wondering what happened to Bob's dog.

Just another character with whom they never found anything worthwhile to do. If the actor wanted out, that may be one thing, although it seems like his story arc gives plenty of options for accomplishing that result other than killing the character. Weak, weak, weak. How many regulars have they killed off on this show now? Three? Mark Greene, the Kelli Martin character, and now him. Granted, Greene was of natural causes, but still. Plus they tried to kill off Julianna Marguiles before realizing she might be a good character to have around, and of course teased at the start of this season that Luka might be dead (a ruse that included not running the opening credits so we couldn't look for the actor's name). Enough already!

Speaking of Kelli Martin.....

she was supposed to be on for at least a full year (IIRC, she had a 3 year contract). Then, she suddenly died. I wonder what happened.....

I think, perhaps, the character turned out to be such a mess, with an almost palpible lack of chemistry with John Carter, that they decided to cut their losses.
