The CSI Dangling Plot Thread Thread (Random Spoilers)

The Grissom/Sara relationship got mentioned again in the 11/13 and started me thinking about various plot points that have come up over the past season or two yet have never been resolved. Here's the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
Unfinished Investigations
- The Magician - In one episode the culprit was a stage magician. At the end of the episode he has been arrested and put in a patrol car but we see that he has a key to his handcuffs (implying that he can get away). We never learn if he did or not.
- The Serial Killer - This was the case where someone was about to executed but at the last minute they had to review the evidence again. They discovered that the person in question was responsible for one of the murders (and he was executed) but that he was just a copycat and someone else was responsible for another three. We never heard anything else about this one.
- The Rapists - Recent episode from this season. The team investigates a home invasion/rape but the teenage girl who is their only witness freezes and can't point out the rapist from the lineup. At the end of the episode she is murdered in her driveway, presumably by the rapists. No followup on this one either.
- Catherine's ex-husband - Not sure about this one. Catherine's ex-husband is shot. They manage to narrow the case down to one of two people but can't determine which one did it.
Character Development
- Catherine - The whole involvement with her "father" is yet unresolved. This also includes a murder that he was apparently responsible for that had the evidence thrown out because she did not handle it properly.
There was an ongoing thread involving her ex-husband, but he was killed last season.
- Warrick - They made a big deal for a while about the fact that he was a compulsive gambler, but that has not appeared lately.
- Sara - Occasionally we see some romantic tension between Sara and Grissom (mostly from Sara) but this subplot seems to be going nowhere.
- Grissom - It looked for a while that a subplot with Grissom and Lady Heather, but this one also seems to have faded away.
Resolved(?) Subplots
Paul Millander - Another serial killer. He finally killed himself, which seems to have ended that subplot.
Grissom's Hearing - Seems to have been cured.
Anyone have any comments or anything to add to the list?

Too many unresolved subplots. I have one simple suggestion.
Grissom does a 3-way with Sara & Lady Heather.
-phil (may identify with Grissom to much)

OT, but did anyone notice that the "scenes from next week's CSI" have been the same for two weeks in a row now? The episode last night was not the same one previewed after the previous episode.

Yeah, the thing with his hearing was resolved in a 2-second conversation in (I think) the first episode.
"Surgery worked?"
"Yep."

I was hoping for a Lady Heather continuation as well.

Maybe there was going to be, but now she is a regular on The O.C. on FOX. :)

I appreciate that the writers don't feel the need (pressure) to wrap up every plot line in a neat little 60 min bow. Teasing the audience by leaving plot lines dormant for extended periods of time is refreshing compared to most TV fare. It also adds mystery to the characters development. If you want to see mind numbing plot lines wrapped up neatly by one dimensional characters, watch CSI Miami. How could these two shows be from the same production teams?

Yes, I noticed that, as well. I have assumed that after the preview was shown the first time, they decided to re-insert the bumped episode that was finally shown 11-13-03. To get back on track, they aired the preview again, as they will now show it next week. Or, at least that's one theory.

IIRC, there was some negative feedback in the television critics circle that the introduction of Grissom's hearing loss was moving the storylines into "melodrama" territory, detracting from what made the show great. I think it was a good idea to resolve the issue quickly and put it behind them, in that wonderful three-second segment.
Who is Lady Heather? I watch the OC, but have never seen any of the ladies on OC on CSI. However, there was a blonde facial re-constructionist (Pamela Gidley) who came onto CSI every once in a while, and I always noted sparks between her and Grissom. She was on Pretender for the final couple of seasons, and most recently was on Skin as the pornographer's wife. Could that have been Lady Heather?
I would add one more storyline, not necessarily unresolved, but more ongoing: Greg really, really wants to be a CSI. This pops up every couple of episodes.

Lady Heather was a professional dominatrix who had a facility as well as an online business. Grissom and she really hit it off in one episode when he was there handling evidence.

Lady Heather was played by Mindy (Melinda) Clarke. She is appearing on "The O.C.".
Check out the details at the Internet Movie Database.

Thanks guys. I definitely missed the Lady Heather episode(s). She's scary enough on OC, so I'm now imagining her with all the tools of a dominatrix at her disposal... whew. Brain overload! :D

Lady Heather may make a comeback at some point, but in the last episode she was in, she felt betrayed by Grissom, since he got a warrant for her insulin injection pen. She seemed to want t cut things off after that.

Grissom is such a pimp. He has questionable people skills and poor hearing, but the women all seem to love him. Interesting.
You dont see a whole lot of chicks going after Warrick or Nick Stokes.
One thing that bothered me is that Nick originally went to Texas A&M and had a BS in Criminal Justice. Some Aggies emailed them to inform them that A&M doesnt have a Criminal Justice degree, and they changed him to Rice (Even though they talked about him playing ball for A&M.)

They did have a prostitute, played by Krista Allen, who got involved with Nick in the first season. But she was a bad girl and eventually met a bad end. Nick's more interested in Sara, anyhow.

Lady Heather was awesome. She was very intellectual, she would go back and forth with Grissom.
The episode, if you want to make a wishlist for it, is called "Lady Heather's Box". It was a special 90 minute episode.

I'm holding out hope that they revisit some of these in the future, especially the serial killer storyline. That ep was on when I first started getting to the show, and was a little upset at the ending (of course, the end of the rapist episode this year was far more disturbing). I understand and appreciate the sentiment that not all cases get solved, and every episode should not end all wrapped up with a neat little bow, but I think it would be great, and interesting continuity-wise, if they revisited some of the dangling cases here and there.

The episode where Lady Heather was first introduced was called "Slaves of Las Vegas", and was a regular 60 minute episode. I believe it was the season before "Lady Heather's Box". She was a really interesting character, with a lot of psychological insight into people, and really challenged Grissom.
