Removing Drive

I have a Phillips HDR212 that I added a 100GB drive to two years ago, using (IIRC) version 1.x of MFS tools to 'bless' the second drive for use.

I now have a TiVo series 2 that I would like to move that drive to. I plan to do this:

1. 'Unbless' the 100GB drive and remove it from the old TiVo.
2. Continue using the series 1 TiVo with minimal loss of programs already stored on there.
3. Wipe the drive clean and put it in my new Series 2 box.

Step 3 is no problem, but I can't seem to find any documentation that discusses removing an added drive and going back to using the original drive by itself. I've read through the Hinsdale howto several times and I either am too dense to find the info, or it's not in there. I didn't make a backup of my original drive before I added the second one, so reloading it isn't an option.

If someone could kindly point me to the doc I need or the right command to use, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Are you sure you want to put a drive that has been running for two years straight into a brand new system?

I'd recommend against it. Get a brand new 120G for under $100, instead. I recommend Samsung--quiet and reliable. Newegg.com is where I got my last one just a few weeks ago--$106 for a 160G shipped. No stupid rebate hassles, ether.

Food for thought... Well, I'd still like to take the 100GB drive out, regardless of where I use it next. I'm just going to be using the old TiVo to manually record stuff.

Anyone know how I can accomplish this?

Just make a compressed backup from the drive set and restore it to the original drive (note that restoring to the original drive is a special case).

None of your recordings will survive this.

Thanks for the pointer - with that info I was able to find the right place in the Hinsdale howto that would apply to me.
