Did anyone notice that Rob Zombie did the voice of Icthultu?

And how many freakin' voices does Mark Hamill do? I knew the Joker, and I saw that he did Grundy. Any others?

I think Mark Hamill played the Trickster in an episode of the Flash (live-action) series a few years ago.

Nice to see them toss in H.P. Lovecraft's Elder Gods and Dr. Fate.

I wonder if the big squid-like monster that attacked the ship was supposed to be Dagon.

Was that really Solomon Grundy's origin? And did they mention anywhere in the story about his being born or "reborn" on a Monday? The original mention of Monday comes from the nursery rhyme:

Solomon Grundy,
Born on Monday,
Christened on Tuesday,
Married on Wednesday,
Took ill on Thursday,
Worse on Friday,
Died on Saturday,
Buried on Sunday.
This is the end
Of Solomon Grundy.

(Edited to add: According to http://www.supermanhomepage.com/com...=solomon-grundy ,
it was Cyrus Gold who died in the 19th century and came back as Grundy during the Golden Age of comics. He was discovered by gangsters and became their enforcer. He took on the original Green Lantern (pre-Hal Jordan). So the animated episode was a bit of a revamp.)

They're giving Hawkgirl more to do this year. At some point they may even let her take off that helmet! :D

Mark Hamill is a pretty prolific voice actor. Check out his credits here.

Favorite line:

Hawkgirl to Superman: "Do you ever get chafed from all that fence straddling?"

Good episode. Nice to see Aquaman again. And they've not only given good depth to the JL members, they're even making the villains more than 2-dimensional.

One little nit about Hawkgirl though. Very often she flies and her wings aren't flapping. Either she needs them to fly or she doesn't, but I wish it was more consistent.

Wow, I was impressed we got hear the pronunciation of "Shayera Hol" and that was actually the name she gave. I'm glad to see that we are only getting bits and pieces of the "Thanagarian puzzle" as the ongoing mystery is one of the few continuing threads in the series.

I was kinda confused by this episode. I know it's a cartoon and all but she recognizes the Thangarian Runes Dr. Fate had, then they never broach the subject again.

I try not to nit pick cartoons since they are cartoons, but that was a little troubling.

I liked Oded Fehr's voice for Dr. Fate. He was Donovan on UC: Undercover, and from Deuce Bigalow, and both Mummy movies.

I am not sure what you mean. Sure they didn't bring up the runes directly, but they explained that Icthultu controlled Thangar as a demi-god and that is why Hawkgirl knew Icthultu as well as understood the incantation and runes.

Also, nice to see the in-jokes crossing companies. When talking to Grundy during a battle scene, Hawkgirl flies away saying "Hawkgirl Smash" in a nod to Grundy's Hulk qualities.

I didn't explain myself very well. Hawkgirl can't get back to her own world right? She's wanting to get back home it seems from what little bit they've talked about it. Now she meets Dr. Fate who has some knowledge of Thangar Runes. I just thought she would want to get back home and that she would talk to Fate about it. Even if it was him trying and not being able to do it.

Sorry I didn't explain myself as well as I should have.

It tickled me pink (or some suitable color) to see Solomon Grundy punching his way into Icthultu's brain. That has to rank up with the weirdest of images from this series....
