What Beginnings do you Watch?

For some shows, I watch the opening credits. Others, I skip.

I really like the beginnings of:

Six Feet Under (the music)
Boomtown (music and scenes)
The Shield (all of it is great)
Las Vegas (music)
The Simpsons (gotta see the chalkboard and couch gag)

However, I skip:

All reality shows (usually get to minute 5 or 6 before anything new is on)
Friends (seen it a cajillion times)

Any others worth seeing?

Only one I can think of that I watch the beginning every time:

Queer Eye. That's one of the BEST credit sequences I've ever seen.

Scrubs and Malcolm in the Middle because I like the music. I hate it when they use one of the different Scrubs openings though.

Plus, of course, The Simpsons.

Angel and The West Wing, because their music puts me in the right mood for the show. And I'm a sucker for strings.

I sometimes watch the QEftSG opening too, but not as often.

Scrubs, since it's short and amusing. I hate when they do the 5 second opening though...I like the 15 second one where everyone is blipping around.

I like to watch the one for Charmed. I love the theme song.

I also watch the Buffy one from time to time, as it has a good beat to it, to settle you in for the show.

The first season of Reba, I watched, but she changed the theme song, and it isn't as good.

I love the QE opening. Perfect music, the colors are spot on--I could watch those boys all day long. :)

Well, maybe not all day long. Gotta look at some naked chicks every once in a while to reaffirm my masculinity.

But, just to tear it down again, another one I used to always watch was for Enterprise. Haven't seen the show in a while, though, and I hated the song remix.

I don't watch the full West Wing intro, however I don't feel I'm watching the show unless I start with the drum intro before the teaser

The Dead Zone... downloaded the theme as mp3, found out they not only heavily edited it but remixed as well for the show. The show's version is better.

Babylon 5... at least seasons 3-5. Season 5's intro is better than the entirety of Season 5.

Enterpr... gotcha. Hell no.

Ones I skip

Nip/Tuck... what were they thinking?
Enterprise... so let's take an already sucky intro theme and make it worse.
Photo Safari... please.
ER... yawn.
Peacemakers... I love the theme but hate the intro.

I don't get why everyone likes the credits for this. OK, the song is somewhat catchy, but I don't think it's really all that. Plus the whole Gay St/Straight St thing is just so slap you in the face obvious.

What really drives me nuts about the opening of the show is that during the credits we see what each guy's job is. Then at the beginning when everyone is running around the house being catty, we're told again what everyone does as if we might have forgot in the last 30 seconds.

I watch the "Previously on..." intro on all my shows. We watch the music/credits intro on:

Queer Eye
Las Vegas
Scrubs
CSI

Sometimes we used to watch the intro to Everybody Loves Raymond, when they did the "race to lock the door from the parents" intro, but they changed it and we don't watch it anymore.

I love the Queeer Eye opening too. I actually like the second time they show what they do, as usually it's some really silly pose while interacting with the straight guy.

I also watch the intro to The Guardian - but I think i'm the only person here that even watches that show.

I really like the Carnivale opener. It has a good theme, and some cool CG with the tarot cards.

Boomtown had an awesome opener. (:()

The Sheild's "ba da da da da daa!" theme is cool, and short.

Buffy (some minor head banging and air guitar, if in the right mood)
Iron Chef (I usually sing along with it - duuuum dum, duuuum dum, dduuuum dum, dddum da dummm...)
Survivor - not always, but when I'm feeling that it's going to be a really good episode, I watch it and usually sing along. Obligatory for the first and last episode.

I did not even know that Nip/Tuck had a song until late in the season when I left it running while I got a drink.

What is the deal with the new 5 sec intros? Are they packing in more ads or more show? ;) I am not a fan of the shows that go from teeny intro right into the show thus requiring me to hit the backup button. :D

Used to watch the "Ed" intro because I liked the foo-fighters song. I think they replaced it Season 2, and brought it back Season 3. Now I don't watch Ed, so I don't know how it begins.

I also liked "the practice" opening back in the early seasons, because it matched the show so well. The last few seasons, the grainy video didn't fit with the slick, somber law firm (perhaps DEK should have changed the name of the show?)

I watch the Ed intro every week because I remember how much I missed it during Season 2. I feel like if I don't watch it one week, they'll go and take it away again. But I'm probably not normal :)

I sing along to the Survivor theme every week. Drives the wife nuts (she hates Survivor).

I also like the music under the opening credits for Scrubs and Still Standing, so I watch those. (Side benefit of watching HDTV -- my locals haven't figured out how to preempt the closing credits with ads for their 10:00 news yet, so I get to hear the theme music under full-screen credits just like the olden days :))

I skip both CSI openings as quickly as I can hit the FF button. Who decided the Who would be good opening credit music? Yuck.

For current shows, I always skip past the titles on West Wing and ER, and I'd do the same on Frasier, but it's too short to even bother.

I always watch the opening credits on Smallville, Scrubs, Las Vegas, The OC, Friends, Alias, Without a Trace. Great themes, songs or title sequences.

If there's a repeat of Wings from the first couple of seasons, I always watched that too, just 'cuz I loved the soaring piano tune, and I can't skip past a Cheers sing-a-long. I also feel weirdly compelled to stick around for the theme songs from Green Acres, Gilligan's Island, and the Adams Family - just can't forward for some reason! :)

The HBO shows intros are way too long. Six Feet Under is cool, but 1 1/2 minutes before recap? Three quick 30 second skips are indispensable.

Intros I watch:
BoomTown - Very artistic. I never miss it.
Judging Amy - I like the still photographs.
Scrubs
Law and Order (original) - Music. When I occasionally watch the show.

The West Wing (Sets the mood for the show, plus me and my wife switch off every week making up lyrics for the song)
The Simpsons (blackboard/couch gag)
King of the Hill (good song)

Sometimes, but not Always:
Monarch of the Glen (sets the mood nicely)
Lovejoy (sets the mood nicely)
Karen Sisco (sometimes, ya' just gotta hear "Shake Your Thing")

I just started skipping over the into to Carnivale-- it is pretty and interesting, but I get the point already.

I skip over the scenes from last week, the opening and the first set of commercials of Survivor. I know who the contestants are and what happened and the song doesn't rock my world any more.

Oh, I forgot to add CSI to my list. Love that song! I don't listen to it every week anymore, but I did when I first started watching.
