Service number problem?

I bought a used Tivo with a bad hard drive (HDR312). I bought a new hard drive, downloaded an image from the web, and installed it, etc. Tivo boots fine and I did the "Clean and Delete everything" step.
My concern is that the service number on the back of the box and the service number showing in the software screen are not the same. Is this a problem? I thought the number was tied to the hardware.
Finally, I signed up on Tivo.com for my service - does it really take a few days before it is activated?

What service number did you use to sign up? You should use the one on screen. It's very likely that someone swapped the motherboard out of the unit and didn't change the serial on the back in the process.

I originally used the number on the back, but then I saw the one in software was different and changed it on tivo.com to that version.

Sounds good - has your account status changed to reflect the subscription?

Yup, everything is working great now... just waiting for it to process the stuff from the last call... 168 minutes remaining... grrr.

It's worth the wait!
